BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur- Camp Jaime N Ferrer Sr, Brgy Maharlika, Bislig City (Station) – The 75th Infantry “Marauder” Battalion reaffirms its commitment and support to the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Day during the Monday flag-raising ceremony at Headquarters, 75IB on September 9, 2019.
This year’s celebration of the International Humanitarian Law Committee chaired by the Department of Foreign Affairs composed of different government agencies to include the Philippine Army with the theme, “IHL: Protecting the Defenseless in Times of Armed Conflict.”
The IHL Day commemoration by the Philippine Army units are highlighted by the oath of reaffirmation of commitment and support for the International Humanitarian Law led by Captain Marlon L Bagara, Battalion Executive Officer and followed by the reading of message from the Executive Secretary of the Presidential Human Rights Committee by Lieutenant Colonel Warren C Munda, Acting Commanding Officer of 75IB, emphasizing the true spirit of IHL that it shall stay faithful to the law (Republic Act 11188) that ensure special protection of children in situations of armed conflict; the national plan of action of women, to peace and security (2017-2020) that embodies protection of women and girls in conflict situations; and to the mission of the national task force created and chaired by no less than the President that would put an end to local communist armed conflict under the Executive Order (EO) No. 70, the Whole-Of-Nation Approach.
Further, Lt. Col. Warren C Munda, the Acting Commanding Officer of 75IB said, “With the discipline we have that we faithfully adhere to the guiding principles of IHL. We shall follow what is right and just to protect the civilians from any harm especially in an armed conflict situation. It is our duty to serve the people in the community, as we maintain peace and order actively support the development agenda to the local government within our area of responsibility.” Ltc Munda ended.
