Army Reservists Step Up, Joins Frontliners in Fight vs COVID19 in Bukidnon


April 8, 2020 Malaybalay City – Around 20 Army Reservists voluntered to distribute improvised face shields and food items to frontliners at five Quarantine Contol Points in Bukidnon today.

A total of 294 face schields; 10 food baskets containing fresh fruits to include bananas, apples, orangez and grapes, canned pineapple juice, instant coffee, noodles, biscuits; and 800 food packs were distributed to Bukidnon frontliners.

244 of the face shield were assembled by the reservists in Bukidnon belonging to 1003rd Ready Reserve Battalion, Army Reserve Command in partnership with Army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade while 50 were donated by Bukidnon National High School batch 2013. The food baskets were donated by Lapanday Foods Corporation and Uni Fruity Philippines. The 800 food packs were donated by Chowking – Valencia City.

“Salamat kaayo sa atoang mga reservists ug sa mga donors. Malipayon kami sa pagtrabaho nga daghan ang naka appreciate sa amon efforts (Thank you so much to our reservists and to donors. We are enthusiastic that many appreciate our efforts” said Ms Bebianita Memper, one of the Barangay Health Workers manning Maramag QCP.

Lt Col Lelanie Combate (Res) PA also a DEPED District Supervisor in Maramag, Bukidnon led the distribution. “We are very thankful and our admiration to our frontliners for their dedication. Thank you for keeping our province safe and COVOD19 free” Comabte said.

Meanwhile Major Neil Konrad Binayao III (Res) PA thanked the donors “This is bayanihan in action. Our hearfelt gratitude to kind hearted donors who shared their resources to our fronliners. As reservist, we are here to support our government we are anytime ready to serve our country”.

Army’s 403rd Brigade Commander Colonel Ferdinand Barandon commended the reservist for sharing their time, effort and resources. “Prevention is better than cure, some of our frontliners work for up to12hrs. What we have to do is to keep their morale high and make them feel that everyone rallies behind them. I commend our reservist who had been volunteering themselves everytime we ask for additional manpower. To our donors, reservists and frontliners there is only so much I could do or say but our God surely see every effort and sacrifice you are doing during these trying times. God Bless Us All” Barandon said.

Reservist are civilians by profession like teachers, businessman, politicians, doctors etc but voluntered to join the Reserve Force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command (Army, Air Force, Navy) as Reserve Officer or Reserve Enlisted Personnel. They also undergo Military Orientation Trainings and Schooling like in Reserve Officer Training Corps in colleges and universities.

Some of the most famous reservist in the country is Colonel Emmanuel Pacquiao known as Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, 2nd Lt Mateo Guadicielli husband of popstar Sarah Geronimo, and Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Colonel Sarah Duterte.
