BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur – Camp Jaime N Ferrer Sr, Brgy Maharlika, Bislig City (Stn) – New People’s Army (NPA) couple of the Weakened Guerilla Front 14, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (WGF14, NEMRC) yields with firearms at Headquarters, 75th Infantry “Marauder” Battalion on Tuesday, November 05, 2019.
After the encounter that transpired on Sunday afternoon, November 03, 2019 between the troops of 75IB and the undetermined number of Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) at Barangay Sta Cruz, Rosario, Agusan del Sur, the NPA couple decided to surrender to 75IB because they are tired and hopeless supporting the CNTs’ worthless ideology. The surrenderees were identified as AKA Toro and AKA Shantal of WGF14, NEMRC, and brought with them one (1) M653 ELISCO Rifle with twenty (20) rounds 5.56mm ammunition, two steel short magazine, and one (1) TAURUS cal. 45. The couple surrendered to 75IB under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel Warren C Munda, Commanding Officer.
During the conversation, AKA Shantal positively expressed the decision they have made in surrendering to the government. “Ingon ko sa akong Bana nga ligtas ta diri sa mga kamot sa sundalo, ngan protektahan ta nila ngan dili na ta mohadlok pa sigeg tago sa ilaha. Unya, ang sundalo ug gobyerno gyud ang tinuod nga mutabang sa ato.” AKA Shantal stated.
The NPA couple will be enrolled to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) from the government, as they will be receiving immediate cash and livelihood assistance as well as remuneration for the surrendered firearms.
Furthermore, Lt. Col. Warren C Munda, Commanding Officer of 75IB, assured the NPA couple that the government will assist them to live a new life. “There’s always hope and a chance to live peacefully over again. Our Philippine Army has implemented an order that will uplift the lives of every CNTs who will surrender and return into the folds of the law. And of course, your Army will always be ready to assist and to ensure the safety of every surenderee.” Lt. Col. Munda said.
The Philippine Army in collaboration with every government agency has been implementing the campaign to end the insurgency through Executive Order No. 70 which is the Whole-Of-Nation Approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in attaining sustainable peace and development.
