As part of the awareness and commemoration, the unit displayed a tarpaulin in support to said celebration.
Col Cerilo C Balaoro Jr, 402nd Deputy Brigade Commander led the reading of the message of the Commanding General, Philippine Army which stated: “The growing professionalism of our organization and our excellent human rights record are just some of the factors that strengthened our claims as advocates and defenders of human rights. These factors play a significant role in the achievement of our current trust and satisfaction ratings of +79 and +75 respectively, in repudiating the allegations of human rights violations as claimed by our enemies, and in establishing our sincerity especially in our engagements with stakeholders.”
In his statement, Brigadier General Maurito L Licudine said, “In line with our continuing professionalism, we shall continue to champion the respect for basic human rights as one of its hallmarks. This year’s commemoration is a call for us to support our youths to become responsible members of the society. We shall continue to educate them from the dangers brought by the exposure to radicalization and violent extremism. Hence, our aspiration can be achieved only with our soldiers and citizens helping each other to prevent youth recruitment and destroy their future.”
“We call on to the CPP-NPA Terrorists -+to stop the violence and the terror they bring to our people. The IHL and HR must be our common ground so that we will be able to achieve a lasting peace we dreamed of for the longest time. Let this commemoration be a reminder to the CNTs of their long list of IHL violations and criminal activities that brought misery and suffering to our people”, BGen Licudine added.
