TAGO, Surigao del Sur, Soldiers of the army’s 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion vows and reaffirms its commitment on human rights during the Monday flag raising ceremony yesterday December 9, 2019 at H36Ib, Brgy Dayoan, Tago, this province.
The said ceremony is in line with the observance of the Human Rights Consciousness Week celebrated every December 4-10 of each year pursuant to Republic Act No. 9201 or the “National Human Rights Consciousness Week Act of 2002″. The theme for this years is “Youth Standing up for Human Rights”.
Ltc Jezreel Diagmel, Acting Commanding Officer, 36IB grace the ceremony together with officers and men of 36IB. Maj Ronald Basadre, Executive Officer led the oath of reaffirmation of Human Rights to remind everyone to respect the basic rights of our fellow citizens, as part of the pledge to defend their lives and their freedom.
During the ceremony, Ltc Diagmel read the message of the Commanding General of the Philippine Army which emphasizes on the transformation of the Army and its strong advocacy towards the promotion on respect for Human Rights and strict adherence to the Rule of Law and the International Humanitarian Law and a call to support the youth in exercising their rights towards their meaningful and productive growth and development let us give them the chance to become responsible members of the society.
It can be note that the youth is the most vulnerable sector on the recruitment of the Communist NPA terrorist. They exploited the youth for their lost cause and poison the innocent minds to join their futile struggle.
Just recently, The Commission of Human Rights (CHR) denounces the use of minors as combatant and child warrior referring to the 16-year-old teenage boy from Gingoog City who became NPA and was killed during the encounter with the army’s 23IB at Brgy Manila de Bugabos, Butuan City last November 30 2019. Said minor is a Grade Six pupil in Sitio Sioan Elementary School in Brgy. Malinao, Gingoog City.
“The celebration of the Human rights week is the high time to condemn the Communist NPA terrorist on violating the rights of every youth and minors they have recruited and used as accessories to became child warriors and expose in armed conflict and hostilities,” Ltc Diagmel said.
“The reaffirmation of commitment Your Army, particularly the 36IB will adhere and protect the rights of every peace loving- Surigaonon. We already attest this as your 36IB has no violation of Human Rights in our area of operation,” Ltc Diagmel ended. (1Lt Jonald D Romorosa, CMO officer, 36IB) ###
