Bancasi, Butuan City – 25 (twenty-five) soldiers of the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade graduated from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Driving National Certificate (NC) II in a Closing Ceremony held last January 13, 2020 at the Headquarters of 402nd Brigade Brgy Bancasi, Butuan City.

In line with the continuous enhancement of individual skills of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the soldiers completed a total of one-hundred eighteen (118) training hours held every Saturdays and Sundays to pass and qualify for the NC II Driving Training conducted by TESDA Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.

Sgt Cherryl D Namok PA, the Finance Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the 402nd Brigade and one (1) of the six (6) female Enlisted Personnel who graduated from the training said, “We are expected to cope with different tasks given to us. Even me who is assigned in the office must be flexible to perform other tasks, a reason why we as your soldiers need to enhance or refresh our individual skills from time to time”.

The Closing Ceremony was graced by no less than Brigadier General Maurito L Licudine, Commander of the 402nd Brigade and the Guest of Honor and Speaker together with Col Cerilo C Balaoro Jr, 402nd Deputy Brigade Commander. Also present were Dr. Roberto E Prosperos Ph.D, the Admin Officer of the TESDA Agusan del Norte (ADN) and staffs from Candelaria Institute Technology of Cabadbaran City, ADN led by Ms Archie May L Degamon, TVET Coordinator.

In his message, Dr Roperos underscored the milestones and struggles that the students surpass as TESDA scholars during the training. He emphasized that TESDA is proud of the graduates and is looking forward to the future endeavors and partnerships between the TESDA and AFP.

“For us to be successful, we need to work as one and we need to unite so that we will win as one. With your success right now, you already won the battle. For our part, we also won because we have helped you reach your destination and together, we already won as one”.

In his speech, Brigadier General Maurito L Licudine, Commander of the 402nd Brigade said, “In line with the intent of professionalizing the AFP, we constantly look for opportunities to enhance the skills of every individual soldier as every one of them are expected to perform multiple tasks whether assigned in the office or in the field. I always say to our soldiers that everyone should be able to perform any given task regardless of the gender, hence, we train when we have the opportunity”.
