Members of the Civilian Auxiliary Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Surigao del Sur hone warfighting skills last January 9-19, 2020 held at Advance Command Post, 36IB, Brgy San Juan Madrid.
The army’s 36th infantry (Valor) Battalion conducted a refresher training to hone the warfighting capability of the members of the CAFGU particularly assigned in Pakwan Patrol Base, Brgy Pakwan, town of Lanuza. A total of 27 CAFGUs had successfully graduated and completed the requirements of the said training.
The 10-Day training aims to empower and enhance the individual warfighting capability focuses on battle drills, confidence in marksmanship and self-defence. It empowers and strengthen their confidence and prepares them to protect their community against the terroristic activities of the Communist NPA Terrorist and other lawless elements.
It can be recalled last December 5, 2019, two CAFGU members assigned at Calatngan Patrol Base and a resident of the said area were killed by the Communist NPA Terrorist. The killing was meant to sow fear among the CAFGU members to abandoned their post and resigned.
During the Closing Ceremony last January 19 2020, Ltc Jezreel Diagmel, Commanding Officer 36IB said that the training is one way to boost the confidence of every CAFGU members in protecting their respective communities.
“Through this training, our CAFGU members are equipped, brave and responsible volunteers ready to serve the people and defend their communities. This is the first batch conducted in the year 2020, more set of training are on deck for the CAFGU members in the area of 36IB.” Ltc Diagmel said.
He further added that the warfighting capability acquired will lead them to great success to defeat the enemy and to be conflict resilient against the Communist NPA terrorist.
