BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur-Camp Jaime N Ferrer Sr, Brgy Maharlika, Bislig City (Stn) – Troops from line companies of 75th Infantry “Marauder” Battalion attended the Explosive Ordnance Reconnaissance Agent (EORA) training held at Headquarters 75IB on January 27-30, 2020.

The 4-day EORA training covered a comprehensive approach for Bomb and Preventive Security; Introduction to Military Munitions and Commercial Explosives; Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs); Bomb Search Operations; and Bomb Threat/Incidents Response that will enhance the knowledge of every personnel in responding bomb threats, security breach, and terrorist attacks.

Further, Captain Nyro B Jimenez of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion, Army Support Command, Philippine Army, discussed each module of the said training together with Technical Sergeant Johnmar M Sudio, Private First Class Clyde C Sumpilo, and PFC Rogelio S Jereza.

On the other hand, Mr. Alfredo Lubang, the guest lecturer, National Coordinator of the Philippine Campaign to Ban Landmines (PCBL), also discussed the issue of IEDs which functions similarly to landmines.

The PCBL, at its system level, was working on the promotion of national policy addressing the issue of IEDs that caused unnecessary human suffering. Likewise, the Fondation Suisse de Deminage (FSD), PCBL international partner, has been implementing an agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to clear the Bangsamoro areas of explosive remnants of war. Which, in return, would significantly eliminate inevitable explosion that may cause further injury and detrimental effect to the people.

According to Captain Jimenez, the said training would be helpful to military personnel to ensure the area from any forms of threat and that they will be more cautious in responding to such incidents.

Further, Lieutenant Colonel Warren C Munda, Commanding Officer of 75IB, expressed his gratitude to the Explosive Ordnance Team and Mr. Lubang for the knowledge they have imparted to the troops of 75IB in countering terrorism, especially in responding precisely to any particular threat.

Indeed, the unit was fortunate enough to tap Mr. Lubang of PCBL as the guest lecturer during the training. Perhaps, it conveyed a fundamental approach to military personnel on how to counter possible areas with IEDs and landmines planted around and having the concept that will further aid in securing the domain, particularly the people.
