A total of 18 former rebels received assistance thru the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) today February 10, 2020, at around 9 O’clock in the morning held at Provincial Governor`s Office, Capitol Hills, Brgy Telaje, Tandag City, this province.
The 18 former rebels composed of 17 Regular NPA member and 1 Militia ng Bayan (MB) coming from Sitio Ibuan, Brgy Mampi, of Lanuza and Brgy Hinapuyan of Carmen all of Surigao del Sur.
A total amount of one million two hundred ten thousand pesos (₱1,210,000.00) was given to the 18 FR’s. The 17 regular NPA received the amount of ₱65,000.00 for livelihood assistance and ₱5,000.00 cash assistance from the provincial government of Surigao del Sur and the Milisya ng Bayan received ₱15,000.00 for Livelihood assistance and ₱5,000.00 from the PLGU.
The said awarding was part of their reintegration program given by the government in order for them to start a new life as they return to the mainstream of society together with their loved ones.
One of the former rebel who receives assistance said he was very thankful for the chance that the government offered to them to return to the folds of the law and to be reunited with their families. He was also thankful for the assistance and for all the benefits they have received from the government.
Mr. Pedro M. Trinidad the Provincial Administrator of Surigao del Sur grace the awarding ceremony together with Ms. May Salinas Natividad, PSWDO, Ms. Ma. Lourdes Martinez, DILG SDS, ECLIP Focal Person, PMAJ Rey Sorreda, PCR, PPO SDS and LTC Jezreel J Diagmel, Commanding Officer, 36IB.
In a statement, Lt Col Jezreel Diagmel, Commander of 36IB said “The awarding of ECLIP assistance to the 18 Former Rebels is a manifestation that the government is sincere in its program to help the former rebels to start and begin a new life together with their family”
